چکیده

The use of mobile sensors is of great relevance tomonitor critical areas where sensors cannot be deployedmanually. The presence of data collector sinks causes increased energy depletion in their proximity, due to the higher relay load under multi-hop communication schemes (sink-hole phenomenon). We propose a new approach towards the solution of this problem by means of an autonomous deployment algorithm that guarantees the adaptation of the sensor density to the sink proximity and enables their selective activation. The proposed algorithm also permits a fault tolerant and self-healing deployment, and allows the realization of an integrated solution for deployment, dynamic relocation and selective sensor activation. Performance comparisons between our proposal and previous approaches show how the former can efficiently reach a deployment at the desired variable density with moderate energy consumption under a wide range of operative settings.

Quasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks

Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...

Dynamic Multi Period Production Planning Problem with Semi Markovian Variable Cost (TECHNICAL NOTE)

This paper develops a method for solving the single product multi-period production-planning problem, in which the production and the inventory costs of each period arc concave and backlogging is not permitted. It is also assumed that the unit variable cost of the production evolves according to a continuous time Markov process. We prove that this production-planning problem can be Stated as a ...

Determination of Thermal Resistance in Three-Dimensional Analysis of Micro-Channel Heat Sink with Non - Newtonian Fluids

Micro-Channel Heat Sink is a heat exchanger which is used to control the temperature of electronic devices with high heat flux. A comprehensive thermal model for the micro-channels should include three dimensional conduction analysis in the solid body together with three dimensional developing fluid flow as well as heat transfer analyses in the fluid section. This paper reports on a research ...

ISOGEOMETRIC TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF STRUCTURES BY USING MMA

The Isogeometric Analysis (IA) method is applied for structural topology optimization instead of the finite element method. For this purpose, the material density is considered as a continuous function throughout the design domain and approximated by the Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) basis functions. The coordinates of control points which are also used for constructing the density func...
